I’ve been toying with the idea to start a journal detailing my journey with infertility for a while now. I honestly didn’t think I’d be in the same position at this point almost 2 years later so I never really committed to doing one until now.
My main reason is that I want to be able to look back on
this experience and see exactly what happened day to day. I’ve realized that
major life events are often summarized in our heads for later retrieval but the
fine details (both good and bad) often disappear into the greater picture.
Secondly, I wanted to have a place to share my experience with others
(particularly my family and close friends) as this is a topic that isn’t widely
talked about and I know that many are completely in the dark when faced with
this diagnosis or just curious about what actually goes on when one is dealing
with infertility.
Luckily for me two of my best friends were dealing with
infertility at the SAME EXACT time as me so I had (and still have) a great
support system that knows the ins and outs and ups and downs. This IS NOT the
norm though – I was and am very
lucky! I couldn’t even name one person that I knew personally that had been
though infertility treatments up until now – crazy right! These friends along with my entire family have made this
journey a situation that I can deal with a bit more easily.
